Abstract：Considering the linkages and the spatial coupling relations between the two systems of regional urban system and tourism destination system, this paper studies the organization of tourism destination system in a spatial view to consolidate the theory base of the spatial organization of tourism destination system and to instruct regional tourism exploitation.There are four parts in this paper.In the first part, a new rational idea of tourist resources concentricity is given.According to the new rational idea, "concentrating" of tourist resources does not simply means increasing in spatial density, but means making separated tourism resources collected as a whole and taking on a function-structure concentricity phenomenon.Applying the new theory of tourist resources concentricity to Jiangsu province, this paper illustrates the spatial structure of tourist resources system.Tourism destination system is a subsystem of regional economic system.And regional urban system is a backup system to develop regional tourism industry.Therefore there are intimately interrelations between the two systems of regional urban system and tourism destination system.The related research on spatial organization of tourism destination system with special reference to regional urban system is advanced in part two, which is composed of three sections.The first two sections discern and analyze the spatial structure of regional urban system of Jiangsu in view of its impetus to regional tourism development.Section three shows the nearly conformability between the two systems of regional urban system and tourism destination system.Then a spatial organization pat tern of tourism destination system -the urban network system of regional tourism is developed.The nodes of the network are cities that can be classified into three grades:the center tourist city, tourist city, and characteristic tourist town or scenic spot. The application of the spatial organization pattern is studied in detail with Jiangsu province in part three.In summary, the spatial organization pattern of tourism destination system provides governments and planners with a valuable approach to tourism policy and tourism planning and a new view to further the research on tourism destination system.
